The meter has what appears to be two leds on it right next to each other. A voltage divider is made with the light dependent resistor and a 10k resistor. The voltage output from this divider is passed along the green. Apparently it s so you can see if the meter is being bypassed if you walk in and see there s a solid red light and it s obvious there s electricity being used then you know there s something not right.

This has only happened since the installation. Like quote userlevel 3 1. Great point you raised there araldojanes. The guy removed the old meter which was a big black box with revolving digital readout and replaced it with a cute dinky one that has an lcd digital readout.

Here reading 1 is 19937 and reading 2 is 11362. The household electric consumption meter now shows an error message red every few seconds and when there is only a light load the red light that normally flashes or is off is now on solidly. Either 1 or 2 reading will be flashing enter this one into the electricity day normal box on the meter reading form. Ours in our storage unit used to go solid red if not used for a little while.

Then just enter the other into the electricity night low box. Once you find the electric meter you will notice a small lcd screen which flashes various numbers and letters during normal operation. Keep your eyes on the meter. Occasionally the electric meter may be mounted on a stand closer to the street. Pictured above is a schematic of how an arduino uno can be used to detect if the electricity meter led is on or off. It will cycle through this flashing routine in about 10 15 seconds. Last month my electric supplier got siemens in to fit a new electric meter.
